The Effects of Window Treatments on Your Home

Posted on Oct 12, 2009 under Home | No Comment

It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul.  The portals that allow us to see into the heart of another are an important part of human relations, just as the window are to a home.  Windows are not only for those on the inside but the outside as well.  They are often the only glimpse someone will ever see of who you are.  Are you warm and inviting or fun and festive?  Choosing the right window treatments will set the tone and mood for every room of your house.

Many people, especially when they first move into a house, don’t see window treatments as big deal.  As long as there are some simple blinds over the windows so people can’t see in, it’s fine.  However, this gives a room an unfinished look.  If you prefer a more simplified look, companies such as Next Day Blinds offer blinds with varied materials such as wood, as well as shades that add color and style to a room.  You can also dress us existing blinds curtains available in a wide variety of styles, colors, and designs to match your home’s theme, regardless of how traditional or unique it might be.  You can also choose whether to have your curtains remain open or closed, more for decoration or practicality.  If you want a really classy look, you can even have cornices installed. Coupled with long flowing curtains, cornices will give your room a much sought after, elegant look.

Look around the next time you are visiting a friend or neighbor and notice the effect that window treatments have on the tone of the room.  So whenever you decide to decorate, or redecorate, a room in your house, you won’t forget to use the windows as another extension of yourself and your style. By shopping at a company like www.NextDayBlinds.com, anxiety will not be an issue about the beautiful, complete style that has been brought to your home.

Having a Great Time in Delhi

Posted on Oct 06, 2009 under Travel | No Comment

It’s about 11:30 and I’ve been in Delhi for almost 12 hours. I’m still resting, but not sleeping, so here are my very first impressions of India:

It’s HOT!  I arrived at one of the Delhi 5 star hotels about 11pm after an hour wait for my luggage and then a half hour taxi ride. My taxi driver took me through 3 or 4 dark alleys, which really concerned me, but the alleyways must have been a short-cut to my hotel, because I arrived intact. On the way to the hotel I got all the overwhelming smells, I couldn’t roll up the windows, because that would’ve been suffocating, and there were tons of people sleeping anywhere there was room, even curbside. I was leery about taking a taxi, because I read about how they will do their best to rip me off, but I’m glad I did, there was no way I could’ve navigated through these streets to find my hotel. I paid my driver and checked in.

I didn’t sleep much. I think my not sleeping is because it’s so hot! But, I hadn’t thought much about India at all while I rested. Arriving made me think that I should’ve been more prepared. I finally, rested enough, got up and showered to refresh myself. I’m actually very excited about the next few weeks here.

I’ll stay one more night at this hotel or until I think I’m oriented enough and then I’m heading up north were I hope it’s cooler. First though, I need to just stay here and enjoy my first time ever in a foreign country. I’m pretty sure that I’ll have a great time here. I’m already feeling positive about my decision to come alone and explore this vastly diverse country.

On-going Maintenance of Your Hot Tub

Posted on Oct 01, 2009 under Home, Leisure | No Comment

The process of maintaining a hot tub may seem daunting, so many chemicals-so many procedures to follow.  But it is not that extensive once you get the hang of it.  Not only will keeping your hot tub clean be more healthy and appealing, but it will serve to extend the life of the tub drastically.  As with anything, the better it is taken care of, the longer it will last.  At choosehottubsdirect.com not only is there a variety of spas and hot tubs to choose from, but advice on the proper maintenance of those items as well.  It is advised to get two of everything, to overstock your supply somewhat, because it is a bad night, when you come home from a hard day, and realize that a soak in the tub is not possible because you do not have the right balance to the water PH…or that it is simply to dirty to risk sitting in.  And if it’s too late, and the stores are closed, you will be out of luck, and out of the tub.

When you first install the hot tub, you will have a starter kit which will include either/ or both, bromine and chlorine.  These are chemicals which take care of bacteria, and come in the form of granules or tablets.  The shock treatment chemicals are necessary, as in some cases no matter how diligent you are with cleaning, anytime you may become just a bit off schedule, bacteria may build up and having a couple shock treatments on hand will take care of the organic materials very quickly.  It’s all about having a back-up, so that when you want to relax, you can.  The filter of the hot tub should be changed regularly as well, this will help to keep the water clean, fresh, and sparkling.  And if you have no back up filter, simply taking the filter out and hosing it down, will provide you with time in the tub, and time to get a new one.  Hot tubs are so inviting, and there are not many things better than having the opportunity to soak and relax when you want to, and to know that the tub and the water are well taken care of.
